WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TO ME

WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT IS TO ME

If you are born again, you have probably experienced or felt him before. It could have been slight, little or a sudden event. Maybe a test. He told you to do something and you did. It turned out well. So, it is not your mind like many believe, it is the holy spirit.

WHO IS HE

So yeah, He speaks, He is a person. He holds nice easy meaningful conversations with people. He tells you what to do per time.

He is God. Yeah, not a lesser form of God. Actually, he is GOD living inside each and every one of us. Jesus paid the price. So, now we have God living in each and every born again Christian as the holy spirit.

WHAT HE DOES

He is a friend deposited in every born again Christian. The holy spirit is deposited in each and every one of us and he does miraculous work in us if allowed. He is an advocate, a lover, a teacher and he is always right there to help when anxious or sad or confused.

So, if you are a Christian wondering if you have the holy spirit, he is living right in side of you, you just need to unlock him. Even when it feels like an empty space, he is right there because faith is not a feeling. He opens the bible to us and enables God’s word to apply to us. He helps us to differentiate between right and wrong.

BUT GROWTH IS NECESSARY

We need to grow the holy spirit living in us, improve his capacity to talk to us, hear his voice better. We must go from hearing just a sentence to getting a full day’s worth of talk because yesterday’s faith is not enough for today’s challenges. We grow his capacity in us by

A] PRAYING

This is in different forms like:

I]  TALK TO HIM LIKE A PERSON.

Talk to him like you are talking to someone. Prayer is a two-way communication and it is really best to talk to him as a person. The best prayers I have had were the ones where I talked to God and he replied.

Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? 1 Corinthians 3:16 NIV

He is an actual person living inside you. Doesn’t it seem amazing to have the God’s own spirit living inside of me. So, I have the ability to talk to God and enjoy his presence.  If the spirit is willing and ready to speak to me then I can talk to him and expect a response from Him.

You can talk to Him during the day and before you sleep at night and during your sleep. Remember, Jeremiah said his sleep was sweet after God revealed things to him in his dream. Your thoughts are a choice and you can speak to him through it.

Ask him what you are confused about and expect an answer to like talking to a human being in your mind and tell him to help you.

II]  PRAY IN THE SPIRIT.

Link to him in the spirit by praying [if you can] in the holy spirit. It broadens his horizons in your life. If you can’t, you can ask him for it. You can also read the HOLY SPIRIT MY HELPER by Faith A. Oyedepo.

III]PRAY FOR HIS KINGDOM

This will grow him in you. You are exhibiting that you love him and that he will be inclined towards you. Have a kingdom dream, pray towards it and ensure its fulfillment by his spirit. Do things to ensure that the kingdom dream is fulfilled. Ask him for steps to take to let the dream come through.

Also, pray for the church of God. Pray that it will grow, ask him to bless pastors. Do not be SELFISH in your prayers. Continue praying for HIS KINGDOM.

B] READ GOD’S WORD

You can improve his capacity in you by His word and he talks by his word.

This is very important in a believer’s life. You are absolutely responsible for the outcome of your life. Reading God’s word as a tool for growth is important.

Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. James 1:23-24 NIV

After reading, do not just close that chapter. Meditate on the word. You can keep a journal about what God said. Keep thinking about it. Once you catch light, write it down and put it in a place where you always put it.

Do the word. Ask God for practical to do the word.

Ø      Reading his word creates a word reserve in one.

Ø       Meditating over it ensures wisdom for practical application.

Ø      Doing his word improves his capacity and the spirit.

So, you are transformed by the process of reading his word.

TIPS;

1] Read like you are asking a question but be open to hearing about other things as well.

2] Read in such a way that you will practice it. For example, you can search for a word from the Bible in the morning. You can ask the Holy Spirit for a word to practice in the day.

3] Realize that he speaks through the world and he grows by this.

C] GIVING HIM FULL ACCESS

The HOLY spirit grows when you give him full access to your everyday life. Allowing him to take full control also help to grow his ability in our lives.

You can do this by taking a vow or an oath to serve him all the days of your life, that you will always obey him. Burn the bridge, add a consequence for not doing such. This will grow in you. As long as you stand by your vow to be involved in daily life, not just your spiritual life.

Just give Him full control of your life and He will take over. Let his word and opinion serve as guide to your thoughts and life.

NOTE;

Your growth in the holy ghost will be outwardly visible to you and those around you. The fruit of the spirit will grow in you, a part from the one which was originally deposited. Gal 5; 22-23 helps you to test yourself to see whether God [holy spirit] lives in you. Besides, the fruits are also weapons for growth of the holy spirit.

These fruits are deposited in every born again Christian as a tool to continue to grow in God. This is why we feel so much when we become born again but it doesn’t last long if we are not committed to growth.

FRUITS AS WELL AS WEAPONS FOR GROWTH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

1]  LOVE

This doubles as a fruit of the spirit and a weapon for growth. Love for God is big in the kingdom.

You will love God when you become born again. It is a deposit of the spirit. If properly grown, it will develop. You will feel sudden love to be with him. This will enable you to want to know him more, obey his commands, avoid sin.

“If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:15 NIV

But it is deeper than that. Your love for God will make you love his kingdom, enjoy his presence, crave his word and serve Him without looking back. The holy Spirit thrives under an atmosphere of love and his capacity is greatly improved under those circumstances. So, love him, ask that he pour his love on your heart. "And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."

It is both a gift and a weapon in that sense. It doubles as a weapon, because it is your love of God, that will ensure you to make a vow, read his word, commune with him in prayer. It is deposited and made of good use by us to grow Him.

Remmember the spirit of the lord has come upon me to proclaim

2] JOY

It is also a fruit of the spirit and a gift. When you become born again, joy is deposited. You may feel joyful for no reason. It also helps in growing the Holy spirit as joy and thankfulness grows His capacity in you. Thanking God and being joyful helps him to grow.

With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. Isaiah 12:3 NIV

You grow him in you with joy and thankfulness. If you lack it, you will grieve him. The holy spirit dwells in an atmosphere of thanks and joy. Thanking him for things like recommending a book, finding a thing and so on will improve his capacity. Never take his intervention as normal without acknowledging him. So, thank him for everything, even for revealing a bible verse to you.

Avoid grieving the holy spirit as much as possible. This reduces access and his ability to talk to you.

Grieving the holy spirit is kind of like getting him ANGRY. The following things are triggers that can reduce his access. They must be AVOIDED.

I] DISOBEDIENCE

He gives instruction when asked and he is grieved when disobeyed. He hates it when a person asks for his instruction, then discards it. Remember, it is the Ancient of Days you are asking instructions from.

II] WORDS OF THE MOUTH

You grieve the holy spirit by the words of your mouth.  Remember you are only to edify people, God and yourself by what you say. You exemplify your relationship with God by your words. You grieve the holy spirit when not expressing him properly.

III]  THOUGHT

Your thoughts matter to God and allowing certain thoughts to stay in your mind grieves the holy spirit. Remember to bring into captivity every thought the exalts itself above God.

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV

So, capture your thoughts for the Holy spirit. He lives in you and He doesn’t dwell in an unhealthy environment. Hence, control your thoughts. Remember, your thoughts are a choice, not a circumstance.

Iv] ACTIONS

You grieve the holy spirit by your actions. Actions are the showcase of your thoughts and words. So, you are to walk in His steps as long as you live. If your actions do not please Him, do not do them.

NOTE:

Ø The holy spirit is God Himself in you. So, see it as God in heaven living to you and interacting with you. God is God and holy spirit is a person and should be treated like He is God. Reverence Him and fear Him.

Ø The holy spirit is applied specially to you. He lives inside you and He knows your destiny. So, always ask Him and obey His instructions.

Ø The holy spirit and empowerment is for you to speak the good news to other people. Never take it as an entitlement. Use your empowerment to help other people and bring people to Christ. This is a major way to bring people to Christ.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free.” Luke 4:18 NIV

To crown it all up,

Your level of access to the Holy spirit is like a pipe. You can broaden it or narrow it. Make a conscious effort today to broaden that pipe.

If you feel like you have gone wrong, NEVER had access to the holy spirit or no longer have access to him because of sin and circumstances of life, make this confession.

“Lord Jesus, I believe you died for me and on the third day you rose again that I may be justified. Wash me with your blood and cleanse me by your blood. Pour out your spirit and your love into me. Amen!!!”

If you just made the confession above, you are blessed. Read the information above and practice them.

For all the people that are not being born again, ask God for more empowerment of the holy spirit.

BE BLESSED!!!
